on november 3, 5 wind turbines of 7.5mw in the first phase of nagqu high altitude experimental wind power project, the world’s highest wind farm built by china longyuan power, were connected to the grid.
longyuan nagqu high altitude experimental wind power project is located in nagqu county of nagqu prefecture, tibet autonomous region at an elevation of 4700 meters, covering an area of 312 mu and equipping with 33 sets of 96-meter blade, 1500 kilowatts wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 49.5mw. the project was planned in two phases. china longyuan power’s builders overcame such difficulties as harsh environments, high altitude anoxia and few workers, and made every effort to solve various problems during construction. finally, the first phase of longyuan 7.5mw nagqu wind power project was successfully connected to the grid after unremitting efforts.
the project achieves a breakthrough of zero wind power projects in tibet autonomous region, fills a gap in wind power development of the last province in china, and also sets a record of the world’s highest wind power project. so far, china longyuan power has been able to build wind power project in high altitude areas with thin air and extreme natural environments, thus establishing the dominance in the industry.
