on october 3, longyuan rudong offshore wind farm was awarded “best wind power project of the year at asian power awards 2013” by asian power in bangkok, thailand. the award is established by the authoritative magazine asian power in theindustry which aims to select enterprises that can represent the highest development level of the power industry in asia through evaluating project performance and the contribution to the industry.
asian power gave a high appraisal to the offshore wind power project of china longyuan power: “as the largest offshore wind power generation project in asia, longyuan rudong offshore wind farm was provided with significant social and environmental benefits, and has also set a good example for the power industry in asia”.
since 2009, china longyuan power’s offshore wind farm has stood by the south yellow sea as the “offshore three gorges” within four years. the expansion project of the wind farm is now in progress. after the expansion, the leading position will be further consolidated in asian offshore wind power field.
in 2012, the annual electricity production of longyuan rudong offshore wind farm reached 387 gwh approximately which can satisfy the electricity demands of 75 thousand households for a year. as of now, the cumulative power generation has reached 600 gwh. compared with normal thermal power projects, longyuan rudong offshore wind farm can save 210 thousand tons of standard coals, reduce 3,400 tons of sulfur dioxide, 1,370 tons of nitrogen dioxide, 390 thousand tons of carbon dioxide, and save 1,650 thousand cubic meters of fresh water.
the head of an internationally renowned wind power equipment manufacturer indicated that “offshore wind power is at the forefront of global wind power development. we hope that we can cooperate with strong wind power enterprises such as china longyuan power in the future, and jointly expand offshore wind power market which is full of opportunities.”
