toronto municipal government welcomes a long-term investment from china longyuan power

  mr. xie changjun and councillor thompson are talking about cooperation on wind power development in canada

  mr. thompson and his party are visiting china longyuan’s monitoring center for safety production and operation

  “toronto provides many investment opportunities currently and we would appreciate a long-term investment from china longyuan power.” said councillor michael thompson, vice mayor of toronto, when he and his entourage visited longyuan’s president mr. xie changjun on nov. 22. both sides had a fruitful meeting over longyuan’s wind power investment in canada. mr. jia nansong, board secretary of china longyuan, mr. frances forrester, bureau advisor of invest toronto, as well as mr. zhang letian, representative of china office of invest toronto attended the meeting. 

 

  mr. xie changjun expressed his thanks to toronto municipal government for being supportive and helpful to longyuan in canada, and says that canada’s sparse population and vast landscape are very suitable for wind and solar power exploitation. mr. xie emphasized that longyuan had attached great importance to the balance between local environmental and economical development, and hopefully longyuan would bring social benefit to local residents. 

 

  councillor thompson said he was very pleased to see that both sides have reached a large consensus on utilizing and developing wind resources in canada. he added that toronto government would vigorously support longyuan in its local business and welcome longyuan to conduct long-term investments in toronto.

 

  after the meeting, mr. thompson and his group visited longyuan’s monitoring center for safety production and operation. he highly praised the system for its wide coverage and instantaneous and accurate data, which reflect the advanced production management level of the company.

 

  on july 13, 2011, longyuan successfully purchased a 100mw wind power project from a canadian local developer. this success is a symbol of longyuan’s officially entering into international wind power market and is a milestone for longyuan to become the first state-owned generating enterprise investing in the renewable energy industry  overseas. the project is situated in ontario, canada, a place with prolific wind resources. this project is expected to satisfy an electricity power demand of 30,000 local residents once commenced into operation.
